If Your Bookmarks/Links Appear to be Missing…
A critical project we’re working on is to ensure Delicious users have access to all of their bookmarks, or links as we’re now calling them.
For Users Who Opted in to Migrate Bookmarks to the New Delicious
We reached out to a number of opt-in users who informed us their bookmarks are missing since the transition from Yahoo!. From these discussions, we’ve identified two key causes so far:
- Misconception: As part of the re-launch, we decided to change the name of “bookmarks” to “links,” which resulted in some users thinking their bookmarks were missing since they didn’t see that term on the new site. For those unsure how to find their links, here is the process: once logged in, click on your profile name on the top right navigation, and then select “my links” from the dropdown menu.
- Issue: Some users reported not seeing pagination at the bottom of their links page, meaning that they can’t click through to more pages with the rest of their links. If you currently have this issue (or any other issues related to missing links), please email us at migration@avos.com. Include your username and which web browser you are using. Our support team will follow-up as quickly as possible to resolve your issue. Know that your links are secure – we have all the data from opted-in users – and it won’t be long before you see them again.
For Users Who Didn’t Opt in to Migrate Bookmarks to the New Delicious
Since April 2011, when AVOS completed the purchase of Delicious, we worked together with Yahoo! to inform users about the data migration. In order to legally move account information from one company to another, each user needed to give their explicit permission. Yahoo! and AVOS used a variety of communication channels – including emails to all Delicious users and notifications on Delicious.com – over a four-month period to ensure everyone had the option to opt in or export their bookmarks.
Despite the warnings, some Delicious users chose not to opt in (or didn’t receive the notifications), but want access to their bookmarks now. If you’re one of these users, please know that we are actively working with Yahoo! on a solution to retrieve your bookmarks, so stay tuned for more information.
